Embark with us on a memorable journey as we take a closer look at The 8 Best Startup Logos from the popular show Shark Tank, and discover why they are so impactful. In this list, we dissect the savvy use of colors, fonts, and imagery that make these logos instantly recognizable and influential. 8 Best Shark Tank Logos

The following are some brands from the show 'Shark Tank':

  • Toymail
  • Edn
  • Vibes
  • LaidBrand
  • RinseKit
  • Chirps
  • Tranquilo
  • Biem

Now coming to how one can evaluate a logo’s quality.

A well-designed logo should possess characteristics such as uniqueness, suitability, practicality, simplicity, and the ability to communicate the intended message effectively. It is an agreed upon fact by successful corporations that in terms of logo designs, simplicity is always superior.

These aforementioned brands have made judicious hiring choices, as is evident from the quality of their logos, regardless of whether they decided to use freelance designers or professional design companies. However, for the purpose of this evaluation, I am solely focusing on the visual aesthetic appeal of the logos, not considering their integral identity system or how they are applied in various contexts like websites or stationery.

It is vital to note that creating a simple design doesn’t exactly translate to a straightforward or easy process. The simplest ideas often require hours of delicate alteration and the elimination of superfluous elements, to finally achieve a visually appealing and meaningful essence.

In terms of logo designing, the following are five basic principles I believe contribute to a successful and effective logo:

  • Simplicity: This involves examining if the design is minimalist and clear enough to offer flexibility and easy recognition. It should also not be overly intricate or complex that it results in confusion or distraction.
  • Memorability: An effective logo should have a unique and clever design that makes it instantly recognizable. It shouldn't require more than a brief moment for a viewer to understand it.
  • Timelessness: Being timeless means, the logo should have the lie to be as effective and relevant even after 10, 20, or 50 years from when it was created.
  • Versatility: A versatile logo should maintain its quality and clarity, regardless of its size or where it is being deployed. It should work on various media and fit effectively within different contexts.
  • Appropriateness: This refers to whether the logo resonates effectively with the targeted audience and sector.

The 8 Best Startup Logos from Shark Tank Season 8

1) Toymail: An Interactive Messaging Toy

  • The Business Concept: Toymail presents an innovative idea of a toy with hidden high-tech components that enable parents, guardians, and friends to send messages to children. This toy introduces a simple yet interactive way for kids to stay connected with important people in their lives, such as their parents, grandparents, or friends, regardless of the distance or time. The mechanism is simple - with a gentle press on a designated button, the toy activates and transmits the message.
  • The Toymail app, designed for ease of use, allows parents to send these messages right from their smartphones. Furthermore, it offers an approval system to ensure children only receive messages from pre-approved, trusted contacts. This medium provides a secure circle of communication between the child and their trusted network.
  • The Logo: Toymail's logo embodies the perfect balance between creativity and modern design principles. It reflects the company's focus on toys through its unique toy-outline, complemented by a modern geometric typeface. Both the icon and the wordmark are created using a unified single-weight line style, promoting a harmonious visual identity. The logo is also characterized by a bright pink color - a hue widely appreciated in the children's toy industry, adding to its appeal and relevance as a toy company's insignia.

2) Edn

This is an appealing pitch: Edn is an ingenious seed pod designed to allow anyone to cultivate their own miniature garden indoors. Its superb, convenient and innovative design enables easy growth of herbs, vegetables, and flowers - all in the cozy ambiance of the user's own home.

The Small Garden's advanced soil-free technology ensures effortless plant care, freeing the user from laborious plant maintenance. Furthermore, the seed pods operate without the use of dirt, leading to a distinctly clean, mess-free gardening experience.

The distinctive wordmark of this product is designed to exude a feeling of lightness and cleanliness. It is supplemented with a line over the "e", a feature that adds an appealing touch of character and marks the accent.

  • The selected shade of turquoise infuses the typography with a sense of nature, organic freshness, and harmoniously blends with its sleek, elegant style.

3) Vibes

The main selling point:

Vibes are specifically engineered to enhance the quality of your live music experience. They achieve this by reducing the decibel levels in your surrounding environment but without compromising on the clarity and quality of the sound. The result is that you hear sound exactly how it was intended to be heard: clear, distinctive and well-balanced.

The sleek and minimalist design of the vibes is perfectly paired up with a robust sans serif font type. The choice of font imparts a modern and minimalist aesthetic while making sure that the text is easy to read. To further augment its minimalist charm, an optimal spacing between the letters is maintained to maintain legibility and provide an airy feel.

Moreover, the icon cleverly incorporates the silhouette of the earplugs into its design. This attention to detail goes further when the initial (or the first) letter of the brand name has been accentuated in a unique way, thus encouraging brand recognition in a subtle yet memorable way.

4) LaidBrand

In clearer detail, the HTML consists of the head and body sections. The body contains a promotion about LaidBrand - a hair care enriched with pheromones. These pheromones are naturally occurring chemicals in humans that, without delving deep into scientific technicalities, triggers certain responses. They can play a significant role in attracting a potential partner or enhancing self-confidence.

The script then introduces a new brand symbol that's described to be elegant and striking. Unique features of this wordmark include:

  • Distinct cuts on both sides, which are said to give it a more attractive look.
  • A particular emphasis is placed on the excellent harmony between these cuts and the middle "A" letters, suggesting a well-thought-out design strategy.

The overall verdict of the logo is quite positive - it stands out distinctly and deviates from the norm, setting a strong and unprecedented tone.

5) RinseKit

The product pitch: RinseKit claims the unique positioning of being the singular portable shower existing in the market that offers the intensity of pressure one would typically associate with a garden hose. What make it more significant are the facts that you can cherish this pressure without the requirement of pumps or batteries. The apparatus comes with a two-gallon system which holds the capacity to offer a spray time of approximately four minutes. Remarkably, this system is capable to hold up the pressure for a span extending over a month.

Accompanying the product description, a critique of the product's logo is given, indicating its strength. The logo is described as bold and vivacious, exuding confidence.

  • A special feature of this logo, which adds depth to its interpretation, is an underline which serves the purpose of symbolizing a stream of water.
  • The design is simple and straightforward or "flat," yet demands attention.
  • The unique treatment given to the logo helps it stand out and look exclusive compared to others.
  • The logo is referred to as a 'complete conceptual and graphic solution,' denoting that it effectively communicates the concept of the product while maintaining impressive graphic qualities.

6) Chirps

The main idea of our project, named "Chirps", pertains to a unique and alternative type of snack made from insects - specifically, crickets. Establishing Chirps was initially met with skepticism and apprehension. In those early days, quite a few individuals suggested we conceal the unusual ingredient in our product, recommending that we only highlight the health benefits derived from eating our snacks.

However, this did not resonate with our ethos and vision for Chirps. We embarked on this venture not just to create a novel snack option, but to promote the idea that insects, contrary to popular belief, can be a palatable, highly nutritious, and environment-friendly source of sustenance. This perspective, paired with the audacious novelty of our product, forms the core of Chirps.

The essence of what we stand for also influenced our branding. Our logo is not merely visually appealing but also tells a story. It's a crisp and bold symbol that captivates attention whilst serving as a formidable representation of our brand. The subtle yet ingenious touch added to the letter "i" transforms it into a representation of an insect. This not only gives a nod to our distinguishing ingredient but also perfectly encapsulates the spirit of our brand, adding another layer to our story.

7) Tranquilo

The Concept Information:

  • The product that we have developed is named 'The Tranquilo Mat'. This is a highly portable and compact mat that has a unique feature of gentle vibrations. This helps to relax and soothe the infants in various settings - whether it's in their crib at home, a stroller during an outing or any other scenarios whenever needed, making it an extremely versatile device.
  • This vibrating mat plays a crucial role especially in the period during the so-called 'fourth trimester' after the baby's birth. It aids in the smooth transition for the baby from the secure cocoon of a mother’s womb to the wide-ranging sensory stimulations of the external world. This therefore makes it an invaluable tool for the physical and emotional comfort of the newborns.

The Design Aspect:

  • The brand identity, which includes the logotype, is a product of careful creative planning and execution that aims to match the purpose and effect of the product itself. Our logotype design is expressive and ebullient. It carries a playful script that visually symbolizes the tranquil and soothing mission of our mat.
  • Designed with juxtaposing friendly-curves on font, the hand-scripted text tells a story of comfort and peace while the choice of the light green color adds an element of optimism. This fusion of visual elements creates an overall approachable and positive outlook that we believe reflects what our Tranquilo Mat has to offer.

8) Biem

The product under emphasis is Biem, an innovative handheld device that is capable of transforming an ordinary stick of butter into an easily usable spray within mere seconds. This device proves to be a considerable aid, simplifying and increasing the convenience in tasks such as cooking, home entertaining, and baking.

A unique aspect that I find particularly appealing is the concept of utilizing "i" as a representation of a spray bottle in the branding. The iconic image projected by the "i", that of a spray ray emerging from it, encapsulates the main function of the product accurately yet elegantly. The spray beam is designed to be neither overly large nor conspicuously small, thereby serving as an effective graphical trigger that can evoke memorable associations with the product.

The image that serves as a visual introduction to this product is credited to ABC.
